What to Bring to Your Wyoming Permit Test

Proof of identity
First-time Wyoming applicants need a state-certified birth certificate, a valid U.S. passport, or immigration documents to establish identity. If your last name has changed since that document was issued, you'll also need proof of the name change -- a marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court order.
Getting this document sorted out in advance matters, since a name mismatch between your identity document and your current legal name can hold up the entire application if you show up without the supporting paperwork.
Verifiable Social Security number
Applicants must be able to verify their Social Security number by presenting a Social Security card, a W-2 form, or a financial or banking statement that includes the SSN.
Any of these three options works -- you don't specifically need the physical card if you have a recent W-2 or bank statement showing the number instead, which can be a useful alternative if the card itself is misplaced.
Two proof-of-residency documents
Wyoming requires any two documents from an accepted list -- a vehicle title or registration, property tax or mortgage documents, a lease, federal tax documents with a Wyoming address, or a bank statement from a Wyoming institution -- all showing a residential address, not a P.O. Box.
Because the requirement is specifically two separate documents, bringing just one, even a strong one, isn't enough -- plan to bring a pair from the accepted list.
A parent or legal guardian's signature, required under 18
Every Wyoming applicant under 18 needs a release signed by a legal parent or guardian -- this applies at every stage, from the Instruction Permit through the Intermediate license and any full-privilege application before turning 18.
Bring the parent or guardian to the appointment itself, since the Minor's Release Form generally needs to be signed in person as part of the application process.
Be ready for a vision screening, and know your written-test options
Every applicant faces a vision screening regardless of age or license type. The written knowledge test itself can be taken twice in one day if you fail the first attempt -- but missing 13 or more questions triggers a longer three-day wait before you can try again.
If English isn't your first language, an interpreter may be used, since Wyoming's tests are given in English only; oral tests are also available, but you'll need to request one before testing rather than asking on the spot.
