Minimum car insurance in Arkansas

Arkansas requires minimum liability coverage of $25,000 per person / $50,000 per accident for bodily injury and $25,000 for property damage (25/50/25), under Arkansas Code 27-22-104. You'll need proof of coverage to register a vehicle, and again if you're ever stopped or in a crash — carrying only the state minimum is legal, but it may not cover the full cost of a serious accident you cause.

Renewing your license

Most Arkansas driver's licenses run on an 8-year renewal cycle, dropping to 4 years for drivers under 21 and drivers 70 and older; renewal notices go out about 60 days before expiration.

Do you need a REAL ID?

Since May 7, 2025, the TSA has required a REAL ID-compliant license or ID — marked with a star in the upper right corner — or a valid passport to fly domestically or enter certain federal buildings.
