Wyoming Driver Handbook Guide
The official Wyoming driver's handbook covers a lot of ground — not all of it tested. This page maps its actual chapter structure, straight from the handbook's own table of contents, so you know what's in there before deciding whether to read the whole thing or lean on our cheat sheet instead. Chapters at a glance
- Customer Service Guide — Driver licensing requirements, who does/doesn't need a Wyoming license, license classes and restriction codes, age requirements, identification and residency proof, and the written/vision/skills exams -- this site's primary source for the Licensing Procedure cluster.
- License Services — First licenses, Instruction Permits, renewals (including mail renewal), the full fee schedule, and the entire graduated-license structure -- age-17 full privileges, age-16.5 privileges, the extreme-inconvenience restricted license, and Intermediate licenses -- this site's primary source for the Minor & Provisional Licensing cluster.
- Additional Driver/Motoring Services — The Amber Alert System, driving records, organ donation, disabled placards, and wildlife conservation -- mostly background information, not itself a source of testable state-specific facts.
- Losing the Privilege to Drive — Drinking and driving suspensions (Administrative Per Se, DWUI tiers, Youthful Driver Suspension, ignition interlock schedule), other suspension types (Reckless Driving, Compulsory Insurance), suspension-related matters (Record Review, Contested Case Hearing, reinstatement fees), and revocation -- this site's primary source for the DUI & Alcohol Laws and much of the Vehicle/Insurance/License Actions clusters. Notably, this manual describes no numeric point system at all.
- Rules of the Road — Speed limits, right-of-way, signals, sharing the road (motorcycles, pedestrians, bicycles, heavy vehicles, the Move Over Law), safe driving tips, special driving conditions, and cell phones -- this site's primary source for the Rules of the Road cluster.
- Child Restraints — The Wyoming Child Restraint Guide (under-9 threshold, primary enforcement, fine schedule, exemptions) and booster seat hints -- this site's source for the child restraint facts.
- Titling and Registration — Vehicle titling and registration procedures -- general reference material, not a major source of testable facts for this site's noncommercial licensing focus.
What's actually tested
Wyoming's knowledge test draws most heavily from License Services (the full GDL structure, notably offering full privileges at 17 with no prior permit required), Losing the Privilege to Drive (the detailed DWUI/suspension tables), and Rules of the Road (speed limits, the Move Over Law, and the texting-only cell phone ban) -- this site's cheat sheet and question bank focus on exactly that material.
This manual doesn't print statewide minimum liability insurance dollar figures the way some other states' manuals do -- Wyoming's Financial Responsibility content instead focuses on the cash-deposit alternative ($25,000 per injury plus property damage) available to an uninsured driver after a crash. Notably, the manual describes no accumulating point system at all; every violation maps directly to a specific suspension or revocation action instead.
